Tournament Details

Motor City SYC (Super Youth Circuit) & RCC (Regional Cadet Circuit) and Non Regional Six Weapon Open and Y8 Foil !

Renaissance Fencing Club is proud to host this event. Absolute Fencing Gear is our official sponsor and will supply all grounded strips and scoring machines. Absolute Fencing Gear will be on-site for equipment purchases and equipment repairs

Age Eligibility

  • Y10: 2012-2015

  • Y12: 2010-2013 (or on Y10 NRPS)

  • Y14: 2008-2011 (or on Y12 NRPS)

  • Cadet: 2007-2010 (or on Y14 NRPS) - please note that because this event occurs after Junior Olympics, fencers born in 2006 are no longer cadets and no longer eligible for this event.

  • You MUST have proof of age - copy of birth certificate or passport (if your USA Fencing membership card is age verified, proof of birth date is not required) and proof of current USA Fencing competitive or International Competitive License to compete

  • Fencers are NOT permitted to fence in more than one event at the same time

Earning Points

  • SYC National Points are awarded to 40 percent of the competitive field in Y10, Y12, and Y14, rounding up, to a maximum of 64; no regional points are awarded. In all SYC Youth events, three fencers must compete in order for National points to be awarded.
  • Cadet Regional Points are awarded based on the size of the competitive field to any competitor competing in their home region (region 2). No national points are awarded.

Equipment Requirements

  • Y10 events can only use size 0 or 2 blade length
  • All fencers MUST wear a plastron (underarm protector).
  • All foil fencers wearing a chest protector are required to wear the FIE required padded protector. These are required for females and optional for males.
  • All fencers must wear knickers - no sweatpants will be permitted.
  • Standard fencing uniforms cannot have any rips tears or holes.
  • Socks must conform to the USA Fencing Association rules and cover the entire lower leg up to the knickers.

MAAPP

USA Fencing Regional Events follow the SafeSport and Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policies, as approved by the U.S. Center for SafeSport. Please carefully read through these policies prior to your attendance at the event.

Additionally, USA Fencing Regional events follow the codes of conduct set by USA Fencing. Please carefully read the codes of conduct for spectators, coaches and members as you will be expected to abide by these codes of conduct.

Event Fees and Deadlines

Registration opens October 20, 2022. Regular Entry Fee Deadline is March 7th, 2023 - Late (triple fee) Deadline is March 31st, 2023

No exceptions to late fees will be made for inability to register within stated deadlines.

  • SYC REGULAR fee entry/payment until March 7, 2023: $29 registration fee plus $50 per event, plus any applicable USA Fencing fees
  • RCC REGULAR fee entry/payment until March 7, 2023: $24 registration fee plus $45 per event, plus any applicable USA Fencing fees

Withdrawl/Refund Deadline All refund requests must be received in writing by midnight EST on Tuesday, March 7th, 2023. Please email info@renaissancefencing.com for your refund request. Registration and administrative fees will not be refunded, but event entry fees will be. Please include fencers name, membership number, and all events in which they are withdrawing from. No refunds will be given after this deadline for any reason

  • No shows will not be given any refunds
  • On tournament day, fencers arriving after close of check-in will not be allowed to compete. They will be withdrawn from the competition, and no there will be no refund of entry fees for any reason.
  • There are no refunds in the event of time changes on the same day. All check-in times are subject to change, therefore we strongly encourage you to keep your entire day flexible until final close-of check-in times are posted. Any time changes will be posted no later than April 1, 2023. Verify your check-in time prior to traveling to the venue.

Referee cadre will consistent of highly ranked FIE/National referees. If interested in refereeing, email Sean.shumate@gmail.com. Only referees who are USA Fencing/FIE rated, FenceSafe-approved, and have background screen completed will be considered (FenceSafe and background not needed if under age 18).
