Super Youth Circuit (SYC): Youth fencers may participate in one or more Super Youth tournaments, however, only the competition where the fencer earns the most points (1 best result) will be included in the revised point standings published after the latest SYC. These competitions are one of the possible qualification paths for Youth 10 and Youth 12 events at both the NACs and/or USA Fencing National Championships.

SYC tournaments are open to current USA Fencing competitive members eligible to fence in Open competitions and to foreign fencers with current FIE license or proof of affiliation with their federation or a current USA Fencing competitive membership.

Format: It is understood that SYC events are run in accordance with USA Fencing rules and formats guided by the USA Fencing Staff liaison and Youth Development Committee. Please refer to the SYC Guidelines, under "Guidelines" for more information.

The format for all SYC events must be one round of pools with 100% promoted to a Direct Elimination (DE) table. All events must use pools of six or seven whenever possible. There is no fence-off for third place.

Y10 direct elimination bouts are for 10 hits or end when two periods of three minutes, with a one-minute rest between each period, have passed. The first period ends either at the expiration of three minutes or when 5 hits are scored, whichever comes first.

Y12 direct elimination bouts are for 15 hits or end when 3 periods of three minutes, with a one-minute rest between each period have passed.

For Y14 events, direct elimination bouts are 15 touch bouts (3- 3 minute periods with a 1 minute break between). During the 1-minute breaks, ONE person, designated by the fencer (a team-mate, coach, or parent), may be on the strip with the fencer.

We are expecting a large number of participants, many events may be flighted. This means that there may be two rounds of Pools to get all the fencers to compete. Typically a round of pools for Epee or Foil will take about 1 hour and 45 minutes, Saber pools take about 1 hour. That mean that if you are in the second flight, you will have a wait before fencing. If you are in the first, you will need to wait for the second flight to complete before the Direct Elimination round will happen. THANK YOU in Advance for your understanding.

COVID-19 Protocol

• Do NOT come to the competition if you have any symptoms of COVID-19. Let's keep our community safe.

We are following all National, State, and local COVID-19 guidelines. There will be no exceptions to COVID-19 safety protocols implemented throughout the tournament.

Changes to the COVID-19 protocols and the tournament may be changed at any time to ensure the safety of all.

• Face Masks Face masks covering the nose and mouth are required for all sanctioned tournaments and must be worn at all times in the venue.

• Check-In: Check-in for our tournaments will be performed inside the front entrance of the club. Hand sanitizer will be available at the check-in desk. The competitors will check in via FencingTime kiosk software. Fencers will need a current USA Fencing Membership Card (Printed or via Cell Phone).

• FENCING BAGS Please limit the amount of equipment you bring to the tournament. Strip bags/small bags you can carry with you are recommended to limit the contact between fencers.

• All Fencers must come dressed in freshly washed Fencing Uniforms (i.e. fencing pants (breeches), plastron, jacket, chest protector- if using). Changing rooms will not be available.

• Coaches and ONE parent will be allowed into the venue.

• No shaking hands or touching hands/hugging after bouts. Fencers will be required to Salute and clap blades at the end of the bout.

• Athletes shall refrain from shouting and/or screaming after scoring a touch. During the fencing, fencers will receive yellow/red cards for this behavior based upon the “disturbing order” rule.


• No signing score sheets, fencers will visually inspect and approve score sheets. 


• Maintain social distancing inside the venue, except while actively fencing on the strip.


• Pool and Strip Assignments will be posted ONLINE to avoid congregation. Wifi will be available so you can follow the live results. Fencing Time Live

• All who wish to enter TFC will be required to show proof of Vaccinations (must have both Doses + 14 days) or a Negative PCR COVID Test within 72 hours of your event. If you are fully Vaccinated - There is no need for the COVID Test. Digital versions will be accepted.

• Equipment Pre-Checks on Thursday, November 18th from 6 to 8 pm. It is recommended that if you are competing over the weekend, especially Friday Morning, please come and get your equipment checked beforehand to allow the events to start on time. Equipment checks will also happen throughout the weekend.
