THIS IS THE MUSIC CITY RYC/RJCC!

Recognized as one of the top regional tournaments in the United States, We have made a commitment to hire the best referees and tournament staff, provide the best awards, and create the best and safest environment for everyone who attends.

COVID-19 GUIDELINES, REQUIREMENTS & PROTOCOLS

Protocols will be implemented during the entire tournament; no exceptions.
DO NOT REGISTER IF YOU ARE UNABLE OR UNWILLING TO COMPLY.

If the tournament is cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns or by the order of USA Fencing, a full refund will be issued to all fencers, except for admin fees.

  • All individuals will have their temperature checked prior to entering the venue. Anyone with a temperature above 100.4ºF will not be permitted to enter.

  • Every individual who enters the venue is required to wear an appropriate face covering at all times while inside the venue, and in all indoor public areas of the hotel. Face coverings must completely cover the mouth and nose to properly prevent respiratory droplets from traveling into the air after leaving the wearer's orifices. Bandanas, single layer gaiters, masks with valves, and fencing mask inserts that do not make direct contact with the athlete's face are not permitted.

  • Fencers are advised to wash their uniforms each day as to arrive with a clean uniform.

  • Armorers have the right to decline to check equipment that is deemed unsanitary (this includes equipment that is visibly soiled, and/or gives off a foul odor).

  • No personal chairs or alternative seating options are allowed in the venue.

  • Fencers must wear appropriate attire that their fencing uniform can be put on over in public areas. Changing completely in the venue, including restrooms is not permitted.

  • All events will be capped, and entry is on a first-come first-served basis - NO EXCEPTIONS. Once events have reached capacity, a waitlist will begin prioritized in order of registrations. If an athlete withdraws from an event that is filled, the next person on the waitlist will then have the opportunity to attend.

  • Fencers may be accompanied by ONE individual (a parent/guardian or coach). No additional family members or spectators will be permitted.

  • Fencers are not allowed to touch the scoring machine, weights, ships, remote or scoresheets.

  • Fencers must refrain from shaking hands after bouts or making any intentional physical contact.

  • Fencers must refrain from shouting or screaming, including after scoring a touch. Referees will warn fencers, but subsequent violations can result in penalties.

  • Once a fencer is eliminated from their event, they must pack their equipment up and leave the venue immediately, unless they are in the top 8. Individuals may not stay and socialize, watch remaining bouts or to observe the medal ceremony.

  • Live tournament results and tournament progress will be posted on www.fencingtimelive.com

Additional protocols will be created to help us run smooth and safe tournament. We will keep this webpage updated, and we will send a mass email to all participants with all instructions prior to the tournament.

CHECK-IN

  • All individuals who are entering the venue will complete a contact card each day that will include their name, contact info, arrival time, and temperature, which we will scan with a contactless infrared thermometer. This allows us to record everyone who accesses the venue. Once an individual submits their contact card, and has their temperature recorded (must be 100.4ºF or lower), they will be issued a colored wrist band. There will be a different color for each day of the event. This will allow spectators and fencers to leave the competition area of the venue, and easily return without waiting on a line, and clearly identify that the individual has completed the appropriate check-in procedure. Wrist bands must be worn be everyone in the venue, and must remain visible at all times.
  • Each fencer will be issued ONE lanyard with a guest pass. This pass can be given to the fencer's parent, coach, or other designated +1. Any individual in the venue who is not fencing must wear this lanyard and guest pass, and it must be visible at all times. Anyone found inside the venue without these credentials will be removed from the venue, and not allowed to return. We will only issue ONE pass per fencer, and lost passes will not be replaced. The pass can be traded-off from one parent to another, or from a parent to a coach, etc., but only for a fencer who is currently fencing. Once a fencer is eliminated (except for those in the top 8), that fencer and their +1 must immediately leave the venue. That guest pass can only be used to enter the venue while the assigned fencer is competing.

EQUIPMENT CHECK

INFO COMING SOON!
  • Equipment check will be expedited, and armourers will remain behind plexiglass barriers limiting contact. Frequent sanitizing of hands and testing equipment will be done by armourers to minimize contact.

ADDITIONAL PROTOCOLS

Referees will modify testing procedures to minimize/eliminate close contact with athletes. Awards presentation will be done with appropriate social distancing, and awards will be presented in a manner that the presented does not make contact with the award or athlete.

  • Outdoor covered eating area will be easily accessible with socially distanced tables and chairs. No eating inside the venue, but there is an indoor room designated for meals with socially distanced eating for those who choose to use it. This room is located away from the fencing portion of the venue, and has access to cash concessions.
  • We have added additional space between strips, to allow for significantly more space for social distancing. Fencers and guests will have designated areas which will include social distancing.
  • Fencers will not physically sign score sheets, but verbally confirm them with the referee and bout committee. Bout slips will not be handled by the bout committee, but will be scanned in, eliminating the need for additional contact.
  • The Bout Committee will be located in a separate area of the venue outside the fencing rooms. Bout Committee will be shielded by plexiglass barriers to minimize exposure between individuals.
