Tournament Details

Registration for the North Texas RJCC has been moved to Monday, September 21 at Noon Eastern Time. Because of system updates, including the need to have maximum event sizes due to COVID-19 restrictions, this will allow support staff to be on call and ready to respond should registrants experience any issues. We thank you in advance for your flexibility as we are working to deploy new systems.

The North Texas Fencing Tournament Coalition is pleased to announce that we are hosting one of the first RJCC tournaments as part of USA Fencing's Return to Competition schedule. Please note this event is strictly limited to fencers from Region 5.

We will be using two venues spread out over a period of two weekends in order to accommodate the events, and maintain compliance with local health and safety regulations and occupancy restrictions.

This page is for registration of Men's Epee, Men's Foil, and Women's Foil and these events will take place at the Fencing Institute of Texas.

Women's Epee, Men's Sabre, and Women's Sabre will take place at Cutting Edge Fencing Center, and can be registered for here.

There will be no exceptions to COVID-19 safety protocols implemented throughout the tournament. If you cannot comply do not register for this tournament. These protocols and tournament changes due to COVID-19 are up for change at anytime.

  • Self-monitor and be symptom-free for at least 14 days prior to tournament. Stay home if you have had close sustained contact in last 14 days with anyone who was sick or known or believed to have COVID-19. Stay home if you are sick or do not feel well.
  • Fencers should come to the tournament already dressed in freshly washed fencing uniform. Changing in bathrooms will not be permitted, so you will need to come dressed to be able to comfortably change in other areas (socially distanced in the venue or outdoors).
  • Agree to temperature check on arrival. Any individual with a fever of greater than 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit, or any other symptoms of COVID-19, will not be admitted and will be asked to leave the venue immediately.
  • Everyone in the venue must wear a surgical or cloth mask covering nose and mouth, even under fencing masks, except when drinking or eating. Mask must cover nose and mouth. Vented masks are not allowed. There is no exception to this requirement. We cannot accommodate those with conditions that would preclude wearing a mask, so anyone unable to wear a mask should stay home. Any person refusing to wear a mask will be subject to penalty under offenses for Disturbing Order On Strip, or Disturbing Order Off Strip, as appropriate.
  • Everyone must practice social distancing.
  • Guardians must remain in designated seating areas off the fencing floor. Fencers should be comfortable with basic tournament procedures (including how to hook up) and troubleshooting, as no one will be allowed on the fencing floor. Tournament staff will be on the fencing floor in case some assistance is needed. If fencers are not self-sufficient, do not register for the tournament.
  • Fencers must remain in designated seating areas.
  • All warm-up activity must be done in designated areas.
  • Refrain from contacting other participants and attendees (handshakes, body contact, etc.)
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your elbow if you cough or sneeze.
  • Avoid touching your face, eyes or mouth with unclean hands.
  • Do not share equipment such as weapons, body cords, fencing masks, gloves or uniforms, with others.

Online registration for all events of the North Texas RJCC will open on September 21, 2020 at 12:00 P.M. ET. Registrations for each event in this tournament will be capped in order to maintain compliance with local health and safety regulations and occupancy restrictions. All events have a strict cap of 28 athletes.

The regular fee deadline for the tournament will be October 3rd, 2020. Late registration will be open until October 5th, 2020 at triple fees. No registrations will be taken at the door - period.

Please note that in addition to the protocols outlined in the USA Fencing Return to Competition Guidelines and pointed out above, the following additional measures will be in place:

1) All persons entering the venue will be subject to temperature screenings and will need to electronically submit a contact tracing sheet/COVID screening form prior to entry into the venue.

2) There will be a strict limit of one additional person per athlete allowed in the venue - either a parent or coach, but not both. Prior to event start, this person will need to be identified, will have to fill out the same COVID screening form as the athletes, and will subject to the same onsite screening. Any person who has not electronically submitted these 24 hours before entry will not be allowed into the venue.

3) Equipment Check Protocols. All fencers participating in an event with an 9 AM start time are requested to have their equipment inspection the day before at the Fencing Institute of Texas. Onsite armory checks will commence 1 hour before the designed start time.

4) Pools Process. Pools and pool start times will be posted for each event the night before. Fencers are responsible for reporting to strip 15 minutes prior to the designated start of pools. Fencers are responsible for verifying online the reported pool scores. No pool sheets will be handled by the fencers.

5) DE's Process. Direct elimination bout times will be posted. Fencers are requested to wait outside until it is time for their DE match to begin.

The Tournament Organizers reserve the right to adjust these protocols as necessary in order to ensure smooth running of the event and in order to comply with any additional restrictions or mandates imposed by national, state, or local authorities.

Event Fee Info

The regular fee deadline for the tournament will be October 3rd, 2020. Late registration will be open until October 5th, 2020 at triple fees. No registrations will be taken at the door - period. There is a strict limit of 28 fencers per event - first come, first served.

If you are not one of the first 28 to register for the event, we urge you to put your name on the waiting list. This will help us properly plan the ROC we are planning to do in November.

Because this event is split up into the two venues with different registration systems - if you are doing events at both places (on different days!), you will get charged two different registration fees and sanctioning fees. The organizers will refund the extra fees by check for whom this happens.

Refund Policy

  • Registration fees and Administration fees are NON-REFUNDABLE
  • Refund requests must be received by October 3th, 2020 11:59PM Central Time
  • Refund of events fees can be requested by sending email to the listed organizer below.
  • Starting October 3th, 2020 NO REFUND, NO EXCEPTION for any reason
  • Refunds are processed 4-6 weeks after the conclusion of the tournament and will be paid to the original credit card used at the time of signup. All refund are processed by USA Fencing National Office.

NO REFUND will be issued to No Show or Withdraw from events

Fencers who are under the normal age limit for Junior or Cadet, but are eligible to compete by virtue of being on the National Points list - we have to do a manual registration process on this. If you are trying to do this on Monday, September 21st, please call the main USA Fencing number @ 719.866.4511. If you are trying to do this on Tuesday, September 22nd or later, please call Cutting Edge Fencing @ 817-428-5599.
