Questions? Please contact merritt55@comcast.net No phone calls, please.

This tournament is subject to Massachusetts state laws and orders regarding COVID-19, including assembly of persons. All visitors entering Massachusetts must complete a travel form (unless visiting from a lower-risk state as designated by the Mass Department of Health) and quarantine for 14 days or produce a negative test result that has been administered up to 72-hours prior to arrival in Massachusetts. Failure to comply results in a $500 penalty.

If any circumstances arise that would preclude the safe running of the event, this tournament may be cancelled at any time. Should the tournament be cancelled, refund fees are subject to USA Fencing.

There will be no exceptions to COVID-19 safety protocols implemented throughout the tournament. If you cannot comply do not register for this tournament.

All events will be capped at 18 and entry is on a first-come first-served basis – no exceptions. Should the state guidelines for indoor events be amended we will raise the cap level. Once the tournament has filled to the capped amount a wait list will begin. If an athlete withdraws from the event the next person on the wait list will move into the event provided they have paid the event fees. Event fees will be refunded for those on waitlist who are unable to move into the event. Direct any questions regarding capping to USA Fencing National Office. There will be no refunds for athletes who choose to withdraw after registration.

Event times are tentatively scheduled as follows:

Dec 19 / D2MF - 0800 / D2WE - 0800 / D1AME - 1200 / D2WS - 1200 / D1AMS - 400 / D1AWF - 400

COVID-19 POLICIES/PROCEDURES

1. IF YOU ARE SICK, STAY HOME.

  1. Please do not register if you are from a state currently restricted under Massachusetts board of health guidelines unless you will bring a negative covid test result taken within 72 hours of event.
  2. Temperature will be taken when entering the lobby to ensure you may continue on into the venue. Sanitizing when you enter is also mandatory. If you present with a temperature or any other COVID-19 symptoms you must leave the venue immediately and there will be no refund.
  3. Everyone coming to the tournament MUST enter through the front entrance and submit the waiver form that can be obtained on the Boston Fencing Club website (https://160c19c8-0fe4-49fb-b220-50cc75da58ec.filesusr.com/ugd/d51235_f92c069916bc4711b67ea221e72f0fe8.pdf) or via email request (merritt55@comcast.net).
  4. Anyone other than an official or staff member entering through any back entrance will be black carded and removed from the building.
  5. Check in will open 1 hour prior to event. There will be no early check in allowed. Fencers must check in using the auto scanner. Have your current membership card printed for this purpose.
  6. 17 and under may be accompanied by ONE person; multiple family fencers competing at the same time does not mean an additional spectator. Fencers 18 and over may NOT bring an additional person. No additional family or other spectators will be allowed; this includes SIBLINGS.
  7. Wash and sanitize all your fencing equipment before coming to event. Arrive at the venue dressed in your whites as dressing rooms will be closed and changing in the rest rooms WILL NOT be permitted.
  8. Proper fencing gear must be worn including long socks. Women’s foil fencers must wear padded chest protector. Chest protectors used by men must also be padded.
  9. Equipment check will be mask and glove only. Have them out of your bag and ready to be inspected. After equipment check has been completed for an event and there is no line, you may get other equipment checked by armorer if you wish.
  10. Everyone in the venue must wear a face mask that covers nose and mouth except when actively competing and eating and/or drinking. There is no exception; we cannot accommodate those with conditions that preclude wearing a mask, so if you are unable to wear a mask stay home.
  11. Only ONE coach per weapon per club is allowed. Please relay this information to your club so they can determine coaching schedule.
  12. No food or drink allowed on the fencing floor and none will be sold in the venue. You must bring your own food/drink and it must be eaten in the designated dining area. Fencers are allowed a personal water/sports drink container at the strip, but absolutely NO PLASTIC throwaways; i.e., Poland springs or other water; Gatorade, etc. Only a water bottle station will be open for refills.
  13. Hand sanitizer will be in place in the venue and available on all strips in use for the convenience of fencers and/or officials.
  14. Spectators must remain in designated areas. No spectators will be allowed on the floor. Only registered USFA coaches will be allowed on the floor with a fencer.
  15. In between pool bouts and DEs, fencers will sit or stand near the area of their assigned strip and the adjacent strip and be at least 4-6 ft apart wearing face mask.
  16. Refrain from shouting and/or screaming after scoring a touch.
  17. When you have finished fencing in your event, please gather up your belongings quickly and leave the building by the BACK DOOR (double doors) near the finals strip. You may not stay and socialize. If you are in the top 8 and wish to leave before the medal ceremony we will give you your medal as you leave.
