Welcome to the 2nd Annual SoCal Clash RYC and RJC in Region 4! We are hosting the tournament in the beautiful city of Chatsworth at the 1st Place Sports Complex! We will have ample parking, a food truck on site, and great ventilation!
Please note, there is $5 parking near the venue and some free street parking as well.
The area is also rife with great activities for families to enjoy in the area.
Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park 22400 Devonshire St., Chatsworth, CA 91311
Families can hike and explore in the Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park. You’ll find a variety of plant life here as well as panoramic views. According to the California State Parks brochure, “The story of Santa Susana Pass includes an ancient Indian hunting trail, rocks used as shelter by native people, and hair-raising stagecoach trips down Devil’s Slide.” In days past, this area was part of a transportation corridor between Mission San Buenaventura and Mission San Fernando. This historic area was once home to three native groups — the Chumash, the Tongva, and the Tataviam.
Chatsworth Historical Society 10385 Shadow Oak Dr., Chatsworth, CA 91311
You’ll find the Chatsworth Historical Society at the Homestead Acre, a Los Angeles Cultural Historical Monument. Families can visit from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on the first Sunday of each month. Because Chatsworth was home to different California Indian groups, you’ll find many indigenous artifacts as well as photographs and archaeological items representing Chatsworth’s early history.
Royce’s Arcade Warehouse 21817-A Plummer St., Chatsworth, CA 91311
Royce’s Arcade Warehouse is a popular 5,000-square foot arcade and repair center. You can visit on Saturdays (from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm) for “Saturday Freeplay” which requires a $3 per person entry fee. But then you can play anything you want, as much as you want. You’ll find classic arcade games, pinball, skee-ball, and much more here. They also rent out the space for private events such as birthday parties.

If you’ve ever thought of taking riding lessons, check out Total Equestrian Experience. They offer riding lessons as well as camps at their facility. If you’re not sure if your child is old enough or ready for riding lessons, be sure to check out the tips offered on the website that answer the question “When can my child ride?” Lessons include information on grooming, and riders will be provided with a safety helmet. Check the website for rates and schedules.
Valley Relics Museum 21630 Marilla St., Chatsworth, CA 91311
A visit to the Valley Relics Museum is like traveling back in time. You’ll find a unique collection of artifacts pertaining to the history of the San Fernando Valley. On display are vintage neon signs, menus, clothing, art, photos, documents, and more. Families can visit the museum each Saturday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, with free admission offered to all who visit.
Stoney Point 11000 Topanga Canyon Blvd., Chatsworth, CA
Stoney Point is where to bring your family if you’re interested in exploring boulders that have formed caves, dens, and alcoves. This is a popular spot with hikers and rock climbers. You’ll find a small stream here, but there are no restroom facilities or drinking water so come prepared. Families will enjoy the scenic views and will feel like explorers after spending some time in this special spot in Chatsworth.
The Northridge Fashion Center is also a quick drive away and there are several eateries as well as Movie theaters nearby.
All of our strips and scoring machines will meet the space requirements to provide the best for both the athletes and the referees as well as coaches while fencers fence. All machines will have the score and time readily available so that it will make it easier for all involved.
************NOTE**************** For refund of event fee(s), withdrawals must be received via email no later than the Monday two weeks before the first day of the tournament. Registration fees are nonrefundable. Refunds are processed 2-4 weeks following the tournament.
***********************IMPORTANT NOTE************************* The Conductive Bib is now Required at all USFA events!!! In the 2011-2012 season, the USFA began to transition to the conductive bib format for foilists. As of August 1, 2012 the ruling now expands to cover every foil tournament that is USFA sanctioned and held to USFA rules. All Sanctioned Saber tournaments now also require the 800N Fie saber gloves. Please be prepared with the proper equipment, a vendor will be available. All foil fencers using chest protectors must have the newly required padded area attached to the standard chest protectors. Uncovered chest protectors will not be allowed in any foil events.
Alliance Fencing Equipment will be the vendor onsite for all equipment needs. Please contact them directly if you would like them to bring anything specific.
Food and beverages will be available for sale. We will also have a food truck onsite to provide meals throughout the day.
Equipment check will be held on Friday Dec 6th starting at 8:30 pm til about 10 pm.

(The USFA requires that organizers pay a $6.00 RYC support fee per each registrant. This fee is included in the registration fee.)
Registration must be done online. Fees must be paid to be considered registered. If you have not paid you are NOT registered and must pay the higher fees after Oct 31st to Nov 5th, 2019.
Registration fees are non refundable. Requests for event fee refunds must be submitted by Nov 15th, 2019.
USFA Membership - USFA rules will be enforced. All fencers must be current members of the USFA . Proof of USFA membership is either an unexpired membership card, an email from the USFA or listing on the USFA website. Membership forms will be available at the tournament or may be downloaded from the USFA website. If proof of membership is unavailable fencers will be required to submit a new membership application form with payment at the door. No exceptions.
The USFA is working towards an age verification process. This season, parents should come prepared with ONE of the following in case the fencer's age needs verification for eligibility purposes: A government issued photo ID with date of birth included, a copy of the birth certificate, or Passport
Weapons are checked (weights and shims) during pools and direct eliminations for all events. Officials should be informed of all rules specific to youth events, especially that ALL Y10 events be fenced with blades no longer than 32.5 inches. Masks, gloves, body cords, and lames will be checked. Names on jackets or lames are not required.
Participation at an RYC qualifies fencers for Y10 events at the January & April NACs as well as Summer Nationals.

Junior: 2000-2006 or Cadet NRPS
