Regional points will be awarded to the competitors from Region 3 ONLY! Points will count towards qualification to the July Challenge and to the 2018-19 Junior Olympics.
RJCC points are considered seasonal. The USFA Athlete Handbook (http://www.usfencing.org/athletehandbook) contains detailed information on RJCC qualifying pathways and should be consulted as the appropriate reference document.
Results posted at the venue are not official; results must be verified by the national office for final determination of qualification
•Please note that event times listed are the close of registration. Fencers are required to be checked in by this time. Fencing will typically begin shortly after registration closes. It is recommended to leave yourself ample time for travel, check-in, and equipment check prior to the close of registration of your events. Arriving at the venue at least 1 hour before the close of your registration is recommended. •Event times are subject to change. •Fencers must check-in each day by close of registration of their event that day.

TOURNAMENT ENTRY • VENUE will be open on Saturday and Sunday at 6:00 AM. • Fencing will commence shortly after close of check-in, so please give yourself plenty of time for equipment inspection and proper warm up. • Fencers are only permitted to fence in one event per day. Exceptions to this rule are at the discretion of the Bout Committee and Tournament Organizers. Fencers who are approved to fence in two events on the same day must report to the appropriate strip when called or they may be scratched from the event. We will try to accommodate you as best we can, but we will not delay events if a fencer is still fencing in another event. • Entry is determined by 2017-2018 USFA Birth year requirements and rating restrictions, found at http://www.usfencing.org/page/show/698393-age-and-classification-eligibility. • USFA rules apply (http://www.usfencing.org/page/show/695208-rulebook) Full USFA regulation uniform is required. Electric bib required in foil events. Must have at least two working weapons, two head cords and two body cords. Current USFA competitive or other foreign federation membership required. If no proof of membership you must complete and pay for USFA membership. Since urgent and important tournament information will be communicated to all fencers through the USFA e-mail system it is highly recommended that you verify that your USFA profile contains your current e-mail address.
TOURNAMENT SEEDING / FORMAT • The Bout Committee must use the current rating and points information found on the USFA website for seeding purposes. Please verify that your rating and points standing are correct with the USFA, and contact the National Office to resolve any discrepancies prior to the tournament. Athletes of the same classification/year will be seeded randomly within their criteria. Initial Seeding will be posted here: http://live.njfencingalliance.com • Each event consists of two rounds (pools and direct elimination), Pools: One preliminary round of pools comprised of the standard 5-touch bout in 3 minutes. If the event exceeds 80 fencers, 80% then advance to direct elimination round. Direct Elimination Tableau shall be comprised according to the results of the preliminary pool round. DE bouts are 15 touch / 9-minute bouts. No fence-off for third place. Medals will be awarded to 8th place. • Ratings can be awarded. Fencer signature on pool score sheets and DE bout slip implies accuracy. Any mistakes in posted information throughout the tournament must be reported to the Bout Committee immediately (within 5 minutes of posting). Once DE round starts, pool results are final and no adjustments will be made. Check all results before leaving the strip. Eligibility Information: • Fencers competing must be current competitive members of the US Fencing Association, registered with the USFA. To become a member or renew your membership, please visit http://www.teamusa.org/USA-Fencing/Membership.aspx Please note that all memberships expire on July 31st, so if you have not renewed since July 31st you are not a current member. One-day memberships are not valid for this tournament. If you do not have a membership at check-in, you will be required to sign up for one on the day of the tournament. Your USFA membership card will be checked during check-in, so please make sure you have it with you! • Fencers must follow the age and classification restrictions set forth by the USFA. Uniform Requirements: All USA Fencing uniform requirements apply. This includes the mandatory use of knickers, long socks, and underarm protectors. Names are NOT required to be on the uniform.
CONDUCTIVE FOIL BIBS ARE REQUIRED. As of August 1st, 2012, all tournaments nationwide will be required to use the conductive foil bib.
The Armory Equipment Check will test the mask, lame (as appropriate), sabre cuffs, head cords, french grip epees and body cords. Items that have passed inspection will be specially marked, and directors will be checking for these marks prior to the start of fencing. Full Armory Equipment Check is required for all competitors, with no exceptions. Fencers only need to have their equipment passed once for the duration of the RJCC, Vet & Y8.
WITHDRAWAL Withdrawal during pools: If medical withdrawal occurs during pool round (fencer does not complete pool), then fencer has no results to report and cannot be used towards competitive field total to determine classification or qualification to championships.
Withdrawal during DE: If medical withdrawal occurs after completion of the pool or during DE round the fencer keeps place in table to determine results and may be used towards competitive field total to determine classification and/or qualification to championships.
A fencer receiving a black card (for failure to appear at strip or other penalty in accordance with the penalty chart) will be listed in the final results as “Fencer Excluded”, and results cannot be used toward competitive field total to determine classification and/or qualification to championships.
EQUIPMENT CHECK For your added convenience, NJFA will be offering an equipment check at its facility located at 54 Burnett Ave, Maplewood, NJ 07040 on Thursday, November 22nd and Friday, November 23rd from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM as well as prior to close of check-in for each event. Please arrive at the venue with ample time to check your equipment and warm up.
REGISTRATION AND TOURNAMENT FEES TOURNAMENT FEES MUST BE PAID THROUGH THE USFA EVENTS PORTAL FOR ENTRY TO BE COSIDERED COMPLETE
• Regular entry period (until November 10 th 11:59 PM): $35 registration fee plus $45 per event (registration fee is nonrefundable). • Late fee period (November 11 – November 27 th 11:59 pm): $105 registration fee plus $135 per event • Walk-in is permitted with Triple Fee REFUND POLICY • Registration fee and any surcharges are non-refundable. 100% of the Event fee will be refunded if the Bout Committee is contacted with a refund request prior to November 10th 2018. There will be NO exceptions. • If approved, refunds will be processed within 3 weeks after the tournament.
